This is possible due to three portable SQL extensions that we’re building:\n- xarray-sql: a library that efficiently represents petabyte scale array datasets in the cloud as tables (relations).\n- ddx: a database extension that adds automatic differentiation in the style of JAX to standard SQL, assuming the above array data model.\n- einfold: a modular query planner for fast tensor contractions in vanilla SQL, again, assuming the above array data model.
My hope is that the relational model and algebra provide fresh perspectives on how we might do accelerator programming. Here, our thesis is that separating the logical layers in a tensor program from the physical layers is both more correct and more scalable.
If the Bitter Lesson is a central dogma of machine learning, then why not formalize it with relational algebra?
If this interests you and you’d like to tinker with us at the intersection of database theory and ML systems, join us on Discord at https://xql.systems (link at the bottom). You can connect your own agent, or just watch a game in progress here: https://sketch.wakeshift.ai/games/q5ucru
Hi folks! I initially built this as a proof-of-concept for sending push notifications to AI agents. Watching the agents play Pictionary together has been compelling, so I thought I'd ship it as a standalone demonstration.
In Sketch Stadium, your agent subscribes to game events. Agents take turns either drawing or guessing. Easy clues are 1 point, medium are 2, and hard are 3. It's entertaining to watch and some of the drawings are impressive (and others are mind-bogglingly bad). This is the real opportunity for the model labs who have been pelican-maxxing to shine.
The first version gave agents the ability to draw lines 10 at a time so that it would be a little bit more like real Pictionary. However, it turns out agents are _really_ bad at drawing that way. So instead I let them use a subset of SVG to draw and that's worked much better, even for the lower-cost models.
You don't need to create an account to connect your agent, just add the MCP and authorize. But if you don't want to do that, just watch the game linked above.
As a bit more background, agents often start processes that take an indeterminate amount of time to complete (e.g. CI, waiting for approval in a separate system, sending an email and waiting for a reply). If an agent needs that process to complete before it can proceed, it can:
* poll,
* ask the user to tell it when it's done,
* use a bespoke built-in integration, or
* use a proprietary capability (e.g. Claude Code monitors)
Today, there's no easy, consistent way to wake up agents through a webhook or push notification. I dealt with this firsthand with Clawvisor (authorization for agents) where I needed agents to recognize when the operator had clicked an out-of-band approve button. The best-supported way to achieve that at the time was long-polling.
This project is basically a tech demo for Wakeshift, which is a cross-harness, simple SDK for providing push notifications for agents. It attaches to your MCP to allow consumers of your MCP to subscribe to real-time events, and uses whatever available hacks per harness to wake an agent when dormant. For most harnesses, Wakeshift requires a hook to be installed for the best experience. It will upgrade automatically as harnesses start adopting MCP events.
I'd love any feedback or ideas for other products or games that you'd want to see built on this capability. Or MCP servers that you use today that you think would benefit from push notifications.","kids":[50309326,50309224,50307724],"url":"https://sketch.wakeshift.ai/games/q5ucru","score":11,"title":"Show HN: Sketch Stadium – watch your agent play Pictionary","descendants":4},{"id":50309266,"type":"story","by":"dxs","time":1793389893,"kids":[50309657],"url":"https://www.sciencenorway.no/archaeology-climate-culture/the-oldest-ice-is-disappearing-the-stone-age-is-emerging-from-the-melting-ice/2713921","score":8,"title":"The oldest ice disappears and the Stone Age emerges from it","descendants":1},{"id":50272479,"type":"story","by":"acossta","time":1793190265,"text":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2606.03979","kids":[50281190,50296282,50280194,50296277,50290264,50277405,50309329],"url":"https://research.google/blog/the-sleep-framework-a-new-way-for-llms-to-retain-knowledge-in-continual-learning/","score":107,"title":"Sleep framework: A new way for LLMs to retain knowledge in continual learning","descendants":8},{"id":50305480,"type":"story","by":"paulpauper","time":1793374745,"kids":[50308299,50308110,50306587,50307397,50306525,50307948,50307168,50308235,50307792,50308315,50306507,50306612],"url":"https://www.npr.org/2026/10/30/g-s1-150902/blockchain-intelligence-firms-link-north-korea-to-6-3b-hack-on-binance","score":152,"title":"Blockchain intelligence firms link North Korea to $6.3B hack on Binance","descendants":95},{"id":50301717,"type":"story","by":"dverlaeckt80","time":1793353742,"kids":[50302164,50309337,50302002,50302051,50304379,50302308,50304032,50303010,50308955,50303639,50303676,50302195,50304813],"url":"https://www.quantamagazine.org/how-do-you-take-a-picture-of-a-black-hole-20261029/","score":69,"title":"How do you take a picture of a black hole?","descendants":53},{"id":50308631,"type":"story","by":"miohtama","time":1793386874,"kids":[50309751,50309131,50309381,50309248,50309419,50309688,50309459,50309494,50308964,50309391],"url":"https://twitter.com/videolan/status/2116229135919919278","score":50,"title":"French digital tax may kill VideoLan non-profit","descendants":25},{"id":50298721,"type":"story","by":"shcallaway","time":1793323142,"kids":[50307376,50309169],"url":"https://science.nasa.gov/blog/tracks-along-the-longest-drive-on-another-world/","score":46,"title":"Tracks along the longest drive on another world","descendants":4},{"id":50308986,"type":"story","by":"prismatic","time":1793388399,"kids":[50309656,50309620,50309461],"url":"https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2026/11/02/a-pickpockets-guide-to-new-york","score":10,"title":"A Pickpocket's Guide to New York","descendants":3},{"id":50309647,"type":"story","by":"apress","time":1793391810,"url":"https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/10/29/metro/patrick-stewart-picard-star-trek-the-next-generation/","score":6,"title":"Through Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart taught us the measure of a man","descendants":0}]}
